Learn More About Coddington Lock & Security

  • Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?

Yes. CLS is a licensed C-28, C-7, and C-10 contractor with the California State License Board which includes bonding. CLS is a registered lock and security company with the California Bureau of Investigative Services. CLS is registered with the California Department of Industrial Relations for municipal work. CLS is also insured for liability, commercial vehicle, and worker’s compensation. Certificates of Insurance, W-9 documents, and any license information is available upon request.

  • Do you utilize both employees and sub-contractors?

CLS utilizes both employees and highly qualified sub-contractors. Depending on the complexity, size and scope, or location of work, CLS may have the necessary employee resources to handle the required tasks but in the event that a request is of such a specialized nature, the size and scope of a request requires a larger team, or the location is outside of our service territory, such as north of Los Angeles, Arizona, or Nevada for example, we have vetted, licensed, bonded, and insured local and non-local sub-contractors.

  • What is your service territory?

CLS provides service to all cities in San Diego County and does from time to time provide service to Southern Riverside County, Orange County, and Imperial County. CLS has provided service in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Palm Springs, and El Centro. CLS offers a preferred network of sub-contract lock and security companies outside of these areas, specifically Northern California, Arizona, and Nevada.

  • Do you offer financing?

No. CLS does not offer financing outside of construction projects where progress billing occurs.

  • Do you offer online invoices and what are the methods of payment?

Yes. All billing is conducted online. Payment can be made via company check, personal check, or credit card. There is a processing fee for online credit card payments. Our technicians do not carry cash, nor are we able to make change for cash payments at our locksmith shop.

  • What is your warranty for parts and labor?

Our typical warranty period for parts and/or labor is 3 months from the date of installation or repair. In certain cases, we can offer 1-to-3-year warranties depending on the project. Manufacturer warranties on parts are generally longer and CLS helps our clients with warranty issues outside of the 3-month period. One of the product lines CLS offers is GLS and many of their products offer a lifetime warranty. In some specific cases, and depending on the work performed, CLS may not offer a warranty which will be disclosed to the client.

  • Do you offer keys that can’t be copied by just anyone?

Yes. CLS offers Medeco, Schlage, and CSB keys which are restricted and prevent unauthorized duplication. These keys are only available from a registered locksmith and unobtainable through any other means, such as Home Depot or any other hardware store. The Medeco, Schlage, and CSB keys CLS provides are only available through CLS and only provided to designated recipients. Yes, but only for our commercial accounts. In general, CLS is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

  • Do you offer car and vehicle keys and fobs?

No. We can however refer vehicle inquiries to a trusted and highly skilled San Diego mobile company.

  • Do you offer residential locksmith service?

Yes. Although CLS is a commercial company, we can and do perform residential service from time to time.

  • Do you install keypad or fob locks on gates?

Yes. CLS offers outstanding keypad or fob operated locks designed for all door applications including gates.

  • Does changing the key to a lock mean you have to replace the lock?

No, not unless the lock itself is broken. Rekeying a lock does not mean replacing the lock itself. Rekeying involves changing the key pins inside the existing lock to work with a new key, essentially rendering the old key useless. The lock remains the same physical unit, but the key that opens it is replaced. Many clients use the term “I need my locks changed” but what they may mean is they want their keys changed, and there can be a substantial cost difference between the two. When communicating your need to a locksmith, it’s important to understand the difference between the two so the technician knows exactly what you want and need.
